Week of Photos

This was my first time at this restaurant and will not be my last; this is one of the best sushi places I have ever eaten at.  If you are in the area I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Find Simplicity

In a world where life never calms down, it is nice to remember to find simplicity and be content with the little things in your life.  The little things are what you will remember as the days pass you by.  While this weekend was not relaxing and was a very busy weekend, I still had a great time catching up and baking with my girlfriends, as well as celebrating the birthdays of two friends with sushi dinner and some delicious drinks.

Friday Favorites - Valentine's Day Baking

This weekend I have two birthday parties to bake for and attend and Sunday a fun filled day of baking Valentine's Day treats with my girlfriends.  We started this tradition last year with just three of us and now we plan on making it a yearly tradition and we have ever added a couple new girlfriends to the mix.

Sweet Treats - Christmas Edition

Christmas is the time of year when you can turn baking into something that you can give as gifts to friends, family and co-workers.  Here area a couple of fun ideas that can make giving more personal then going to the mall and waiting it long lines.

Sweet Treat - Chai Cupcakes

I came across this recipe on The Cake Mistress website.  Since I am a Chai Tea lover I saw this post and immediately wanted to make these.  I plan on making these very soon and will post some pictures when I do but this recipe was too good not to share until then. 

If you make this recipe before I do let me know how they come out.

What you will need:

• 1/4 cup instant Chai mixture (instant Chai powder available from supermarkets)
• 3 eggs
• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup Caster Sugar
• 1/4 cup Milk
• 1 1/2 cup Self Raising Flour
• 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
• 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon Nutmeg

Toppings:

• 1/4 cup Raw sugar
• Cinnamon Sugar (mix in a little caster with the cinnamon)
• 12 star anise's

Layers

My little cousin celebrates her birthday around 4th of July and she made a special request for me to bake her birthday cupcakes.  So I tried to make them fun and festive for her and I really loved the way that the colors came out.  Although this takes some time to do all of the layers, it was well worth the smiles that it brought to her face.  The birthday girl loved them; she is already planning her colors for next year's birthday.

Summer Sweets

My girlfriend and I have wanted to start baking something new every week when we have our girl's night.  I am obsessed with cupcakes and felt that this would be a fun project for both of us to do together.  I have been on the search for new recipes and exciting things to try.  Here are some of the cupcakes that I thought would be fun to bake during the summer.

Uncomfortable

Lately I have felt all too comfortable about where I am at, when really there is more that I could be doing with my life.  Today I am setting new goals and felt it was the right time to embrace being uncomfortable, by doing something I have never done before.  I have been thinking about writing a blog for some time now. I wanted a place where I could share and capture all of my moments as I travel through my journey of life. 

Since I tend to be a perfectionist, I am extremely stubborn and I have a hard time showing others my current "work in progress."  From paintings, to pictures, to books, and I rarely ask for help when trying to learning all of the ends and outs of a camera.  So since "MYSELF" is my hardest work in progress, today I figured there is no better time to start showing and sharing myself.

This blog is going to have a little bit of everything that I find interesting or fun things that I find along the way from art, photography, music, quotes, fashion, travel, baking, interior decorating, and hopefully lots of adventures. 

Moments are one-of-a-kind.  Once they are gone, they’re gone, unless someone just happened to capture it with just one click.  I want to remember my life in a way where art and reality coincide.  - Me
