Friday Favorites - Fall Edition

We are now into the first full week of fall; bring on the cashmere, boots, lattes, scarves, leaves, and sweaters.  Not to mention Halloween is right around the corner, which is one of my favorite times of the year.  I love going to the pumpkin patch and searching for the perfect pumpkin, baking pumpkin seeds while carving pumpkins, and putting together the perfect Halloween costume.

Here are my Fall Favorites of the week.  Hope all of you have enjoyed your first full week of the fall season.

60's Style

One of my best friends has decided that for her 28th birthday and she wants to have a Mad Men themed birthday party.  Everyone has to come in the theme and she is fortunate enough to have a grandmother that has an amazing bar in her house.  My girlfriend and I have taken on the task of make the dessert for the party since she does not want a birthday cake.  We have decided to go with Martini themed cupcakes, which I will share on my blog in the next week to come.

Since I have never seen an episode of the show I am have definitely been doing my research on their style back in the 60's.  Banana Republic recently came out with a Man Men line of clothing which has some amazing pieces in it but can be a little pricey.  With all of the new shows premiering this season, all of them have been going back to the 60's style and their way of life.  If you have not had a chance to check them out please do, my favorites right now are Pan Am and Playboy Club. This is also a huge theme for Halloween this year, below are some examples of how you can put your outfits together with stuff that might be in your own closet already.
{Fellas of Mad Men}

{Ladies of Mad Men}

Make sure to check back to see which one of these gorgeous ladies style I decide to do that night.  What is your favorite Mad Men style?

Ultimate Turkey Burger

My girlfriend Leslie has perfected the art of the PERFECT Turkey Burger.  She continues to alter and change up her burgers as she goes but this one has become the ultimate favorite of all time.  We recently went to Palm Springs for the weekend and I was able to document her making her burgers.

Ingredients: (4 burgers)
1 pound ground turkey (we usually use Jennie-O)
1 jalapeno pepper (take out the seeds, chopped)
1/2 onion (also chopped into small pieces)
1 handful of cilantro (chopped)
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
2 lemons

Put all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix it all together.  Once everything is mixed together well create 4 large patties, making sure to press firmly together so that the patties do not fall apart when you cook them.  Place the burgers onto the grill, lightly sprinkle Lawry's Seasoning Salt on the side facing up and also you want to cut one of the lemons in half and  squeeze the lemon juice right onto the burger.  Once the other side is cooked, flip over and repeat with Lawry's and lemon.

These burgers have so many flavors and are fun to decorate with or without a bun.  Add avocado, cheese (any cheese of your choice), or grilled mushrooms just to name a few of our favorites.

 Do you have a favorite burger recipe; I would love to hear it or please share any links.

Day at O'Melveny Park

My little cousins and I enjoy spending endless hours at O'Melveny Park, which is literally down the street from where I currently live.  We grabbed a soccer ball, a blanket, my camera, and went and spent a Sunday afternoon at the park. My little cousin is such a little fashionista and loves being in front of the camera and having her picture taken.  Since I have been working on learning all the ends and out of my camera she was more than willing to be my little model.  Here are some fun pictures of our day.

Something Sweet - Chocolate Covered Fruit

There is not another perfect dessert than chocolate covered FRUIT.  It is the perfect dessert for any occasion cocktail parties, dinner, or wine parties.  It is easy to make and also fun.  Choose any of your favorite fruits, make sure they are freshly washed, and dry them well to make sure there is no water left on them.  Slowly dip them into the warm chocolate and lay out to harden.  I like to use Godiva Chocolate as my base and then add Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate until reached desired flavor.  Favorite fruits that I like to use are orange slices, blackberries, and strawberries.

Summer Nights

As summer slowly comes to an end, I am going to miss those warm nights sitting under the stars without a blanket.  The other night the sky was simply stunning, after I enjoyed it with a vodka martini, BBQ ribs & veggies, I had to go and grab my camera to capture the sky.  Here are a couple pictures of how I enjoyed the evening.
